Will the tag survive our CIP (clean-in-place) process?
Yes. Where should the tag be mounted on the keg?
We recommend mounting on the upper chime (the rolled edge at the top of the keg) or on the side wall between the chimes. The chime location protects the tag from impacts during handling and stacking. The side-wall location provides better read range but is more exposed. Avoid mounting near the valve stem (handling damage) or the base (forklift contact). For DIN 6647-2 50 L Euro kegs we offer a tool-less clip-on variant that seats onto the upper chime without adhesive. Can we track kegs at retail locations without reader infrastructure?
Yes. Your delivery drivers can use a handheld UHF RFID reader (Zebra MC3390xR / Bluebird RFR900 / TSL 1128, smartphone-sized) to scan kegs on and off the truck at each stop. No infrastructure at the retail location is required. The scan data syncs to your keg tracking system (Kegshoe / Binwise / Ollie / Ekos Keg Tracker / Arryved) via cellular or Wi-Fi when the driver returns — emitting EPCIS 2.0 TransactionEvents against the wholesaler / retailer GLN.
