Hotel key cards
An RFID hotel key card is a 13.56 MHz contactless card that the front-desk encoder writes with a room, a stay window and an access profile. The lock decides which chip it will accept, so the buying decision starts with the lock model and firmware, not with the card. This page compares the chip families in a decision table, maps the seven main lock brands (Onity, dormakaba Saflok, ASSA ABLOY VingCard, Salto, Miwa, Häfele Dialock and Be-Tech) to the card technologies they accept, and explains how to verify compatibility, migrate away from MIFARE Classic, and choose the card body (PVC, wood, bamboo, paper).
